After receiving her degree in Animal Science from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1970, she opened Cloverfield Kennels in 1971. In addition to breeding Labrador Retrievers, she developed Cloverfield into a boarding facility with the capacity to house 50 dogs, along with cats and other small animals. Cloverfield made the Top Ten list for Canada and was highlighted in Dogs in Canada magazine in January, 1993.
